ATHLETE-OF-THE-YEAR During the 2002 - 2003 BSC year we reached our 40th anniversary as a club. Among the several ways in which we celebrated this outstanding achievement was to recognize the Athlete-of-the-Year at both Virginia Tech and Blacksburg High School for each of the years of our existence. Each week we honored the Athlete-of-the-Year, male and female, Virginia Tech and Blacksburg High, for one particular year, beginning with 1963, the first year of our existence, until each had been recognized. These athletes were invited to attend the meeting in which they were recognized and were given certificates of recognition... and our gratitude for all that they have done to bring honor to their respective schools and to their sport. Many were able to attend. All appreciated being remembered. Spend a few moments looking over the lists, and recall how these men and women represented us, both in competition and in life. On Monday, September 20th, Blacksburg Sports Club held their 5th annual Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament at the Blacksburg Country Club. The event is one of the major fundraisers that the club holds to enable us to support the Blacksburg High School and Va Tech athletes. We had 100 players participate and we sincerely thank all of the players, sponsors, committee members and volunteers who helped to make this event a successful one.
